Sophie's Cuban

Delicious, cheap cuban food.  Entrees are under $10.  Love it!  There are a handful of locations.  I personally love the cuban sandwich and the roast turkey w/yellow rice. Here's the website:  http://www.sophiescuban.com/

Paris Sandwich

The most delicious and CHEAP Vietnamese sandwiches we have had in the city. We both got the chicken sandwiches and paid $8 total.

113 Mott Street

(between Hester and Canal)

*If you've never had Vietnamese sandwiches, you should change that. The signature sandwich at most Vietnamese places has pork but I prefer chicken over pork. Add to that shredded carrots and daikon radish, cucumber, cilantro, and delicious sweet dressing and you will have the most wonderful burst of flavor in your mouth.

Ghandi Cafe

283 Bleecker St (between 6th and 7th)

Food: Delicious Indian cuisine
Ambiance: the inside of a subway car meets the inside of a Christmas tree
Extras: Owner is awesome and if you go when it's not busy you get surprises like papadum to start and rice pudding at the end.

Yum!

Tahini

23 3rd Ave, near Saint Marks Place.

It used to be called Chickpea and was so successful they sold their name to a small chain that is now around the city. Don't be fooled: the impostor (new) Chickpea "baked not fried" falafel sandwiches are nasty. Tahini is the new name for the original recipe. Delicious falafel, delicious shawarma, delicious shawafel. And they can put it all in a salad if you'd like! They also make homemade pita and hummus on site.

Enjoy!

Arunee Thai in Jackson Heights

Arunee Thai

This Thai Restaurant is well worth the trek out to Jackson Heights. One of our favorite Thai places in the city. The neighborhood is fun and the food is delicious and cheap.
